Development Technician

We are looking for a Development Technician to join our highly skilled Development Team as we increase our operational capacity and further our research and development. You will be assisting with the daily operation, maintenance and ongoing upgrade and improvement work of our in-house LOOP systems.

This role offers a dynamic, hands-on experience and requires a good working knowledge of tools and mechanical systems. Success in this role will require a proactive, can-do attitude toward manual tasks, along with the flexibility and problem-solving mindset to tackle a variety of challenges as they arise.


 

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular system cleans, material collection and heat treatment according to established procedures.

  • Record run data precisely, identifying and reporting issues or appearance of any unexpected trends.

  • At all times, operate systems according to safe protocols and procedures.

  • Assist in tracking product, ensuring its recorded, characterised and processed correctly.

  • Involvement in the dispatch process, correctly packaging, labelling and generating accurate paperwork for graphene shipments.

  • Keep good records of stock inventory.

  • Perform manual repairs and/or upgrades to systems where necessary (with the assistance of experienced team members).

  • Grow troubleshooting and problem-solving skills as you become more familiar with the systems.

  • Perform all assigned tasks independently and meet deadlines.


About You

We are looking for a team player willing to turn their hand to tasks in a science-led production environment. You will need to be an efficient and hands-on problem solver, with the ability to work precisely with advanced nanomaterials (graphene) and processes. Candidates should have a range of practical skills and an energetic and positive approach to working life.

  • Hands-on process or production system operation is beneficial.

  • Safety trained and/or experience working with hazardous materials, pressurised gas systems or environments with elevated risk.

  • Demonstrate mechanical competence and willingness to take on manual tasks.

  • Flexible to deal with the agility required in a scale up business.

  • Pragmatic to be able to translate strategy and plans into tangible projects and progress on the ground.

  • Collaborative to allow good working relationships with external parties and internal support teams.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on technician. Formal education is not a requirement, but demonstration of experience in the above is essential.

A background in science or engineering would be beneficial.


Location

This role is based at our Technology Centre in Cambridge. Our operating hours are 6:00am - 6:00pm and some flexibility may be required within this schedule to accommodate crossover shifts.
