2023: Our Year in Review

2023 has been an exceptional year for Levidian. With the support of our partners, we are incredibly proud of the progress we have made and of the increasing potential of our technology.

As we reach the end of the year, we wanted to take a moment to look back at our progress and to highlight some of the things which have made it so special.

Decarbonisation in action

Levidian's core focus is on the decarbonisation of high emitters and hard to abate sectors where our technology can play a crucial role in driving down global emissions.

In 2023, we've kicked off projects across multiple high-impact sectors:

Water

5% of emissions: we're working to decarbonise the biomethane produced by United Utilities' wastewater treatment process while giving them hydrogen to fuel their heavy-duty vehicles and graphene for use in their future investment programme.

Oil and Gas

15% of emissions: we’re working with ADNOC to capture the carbon from gas flows.

Landfill

20% of emissions: we've helped Tadweer build the business case for the decarbonisation of their largest landfill site and will lock away carbon that would otherwise be vented or flared away in solid form.

We've also developed some great use cases for our graphene:

Batteries

Providing graphene to over 10 battery companies in 2023 and offering a route for cell producers to secure their supply chain, drive down their carbon footprint and produce better performing batteries.

Concrete and Cement

Building a path to a cleaner future for construction with the deployment of Levidian graphene into Concretene and a LOOP demonstration for Stugalux Construction.

Laying the foundations for further growth

As we build our customer base, we continue to transform ourselves into a scalable, winning team.

Highlights from the year:

  • 30 new team members

  • Upgrades to the Cambridge Technology Centre

  • Increased awareness of our brand

  • Establishment of our first international base in Abu Dhabi

  • International recognition for our technology at COP28 where we showcased LOOP as a proven route to tackling methane emissions

Pushing our technology further

As we commercialise our LOOP technology today, we know we can do more to build the LOOP of the future. We're:

  • Scaling-up

Increasing the decarbonisation potential of our LOOP system with fantastic progress from our dedicated R&D team at delivering an 8x increase in graphene yield and a 6x increase in power for a single nozzle.

  • Expanding input gases

Demonstrating that LOOP can crack carbon dioxide as well as methane and can produce a synthetic gas as well as hydrogen.

  • Applying our graphene

Increasing clarity on the impact of our graphene including a 27% increase in battery cell capacity from the addition of our graphene.

Looking ahead to 2024

It’s safe to say it’s been a busy year! Our team will be enjoying a well-earned break for the New Year, but we’re incredibly excited for 2024.

Building momentum: We will stay focused on LOOP deployment at scale and graphene application for product enhancement. Contact us to learn more.

More great hires: As we build a world class team we will be recruiting in the UK and UAE to start with – contact us if someone in your network might be a great fit.

Further investment: After an add on to our successful Baker Hughes led Series A we will be running a Series B round in 2024 – contact us to find out more.

Wishing you a successful end to 2023 and best wishes for 2024.
